The Gynecology and Obstetrics Service of the Hospital de Braga registered, in 2022, the birth of 2891 babies, an increase of 105 births compared to the previous year.
In a statement, the Administration says that, “despite the constraints registered in the emergency service (SU) of this specialty, the number of deliveries increased by 3.77%, placing the Hospital de Braga in the second position of the Hospitals of the North with more deliveries and , simultaneously, in the fifth position at national level”.
For João Porfírio Oliveira, chairman of the board of directors, this number reflects “the dedication of all the professionals who make up the service, as well as their flexibility and adaptability in a year full of challenges and overcoming challenges”.
“The approximately 2900 deliveries reflect the recognition of the competences and excellence of the care provided at Hospital de Braga and the importance of the Institution’s gynecology and obstetrics service for the region”, he adds.
In turn, the director of the service, Luísa Cardoso, emphasizes that “even with the constraints verified last year, the gynecology service managed to carry out a remarkable number of deliveries and maintain the provision of care with high standards of quality and safety”.
And he adds that “in 2022, there was a 25% increase in praise from users of the service, which proves that the population continues to trust Hospital de Braga”.
