The US Ministry of Finance has announced the introduction of sanctions against four foreign companies and one person whose activities are linked to the violent actions of the “Wagner” PVC and its head Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“The Wagner group exploits security vulnerabilities around the world, commits brutality and criminal acts that threaten order, good governance, prosperity and human rights,” the statement said.
About this it is said in the official notification of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury, writes Ukrinform.
It is also indicated that the PVC exploits the natural resources of other countries.
Thus, the USA introduced sanctions against the following organizations: Midas and Diamville SAU (Central African Republic), Industrial Resources (UAE) and DM LLC (Russia). These companies were involved in illegal gold operations to finance the Wagner Group and expand its military capabilities, including in Ukraine and Africa.
In addition, the United States imposed restrictions against Andriy Ivanov, who holds one of the leading positions in PMC “Wagner”. Ivanov worked closely with Prigozhin’s organization Africa Politology, as well as with Malian government officials regarding arms deals, mining concerns, and other PMC activities in Mali.
In addition, the US government has released new guidelines for the gold mining business in sub-Saharan Africa. The document identifies the risks associated with gold trading and which are also subject to potential sanctions. In this connection, it is said, in particular, about involvement in the financing of conflicts and terrorism, money laundering, evasion of sanctions, violation of human and labor rights, as well as deterioration of the environment.
We will remind you that the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, is happy to welcome the terrorist group PMK “Wagner” in Belarus, because the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will receive “valuable experience” from them. However, he did not confirm whether they are already on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
