Expert Makarov: spending wages “to zero” is the main financial mistake of Russians
To correctly calculate the categories of your expenses, you need to conduct a simple analysis of your financial situation, taking into account a number of factors, said independent financial expert Sergey Makarov. In an interview with Lenta.ru, the specialist explained what the main mistakes in personal finance management are most often made by Russians.
“It is important to formulate the financial goals that you set for yourself, it depends on how much you need to save. Maybe you want to set aside some money for a financial airbag. Depending on your income, you can set aside the standard 10%, or 20%, or even 50%. A person may have a goal of saving for a future pension, repaying a loan ahead of schedule: then you need to look at the credit load. The construction of an individual financial plan depends on this. We need to think about the goals and evaluate the possibilities, and based on this, make up the proportion of expenses, ”Makarov explained.
The expert also listed the main mistakes that lead Russians to financial problems.
The first mistake is to spend everything you earn. The second mistake is unnecessary loans, because the loan burden greatly complicates life: you need to pay no more than 25% of income on loans. Third – do not keep track of your expenses, which leads to the first and second
According to him, in order not to find yourself in a difficult financial situation and be prepared for all the risks, including losing your job, you should think about putting money aside for a financial airbag. When calculating its size, it is necessary to take into account all mandatory expenses, Makarov added.
“There is a standard scheme for calculating the financial cushion: it ranges from three to six (maximum 12) amounts of monthly expenses. If a conditional family spends 100 thousand rubles a month, then its financial airbag will be from 300 to 600 thousand rubles, ”the specialist advised.
Earlier, research data showed that in 2022, Russians began to take microloans more often for urgent needs and less often for holidays and gifts.
