Today, May 14, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto called Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Niinisto personally informed the Kremlin leader of Finland’s intention to join NATO in the near future.
He writes about it Bloomberg.
“The conversation with Putin was frank and straightforward and passed without aggravation,” the statement said.
It should be noted that on the eve of May 13, the President of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, discussed with permanent members of the Russian Security Council the potential threats from the decision of Finland and Sweden to join NATO.
It will be recalled that Finland and Sweden, which will apply for NATO membership in the near future, have stated that Russia’s threats will not force the Scandinavian countries to abandon their decision to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
