Territorial defense forces strengthen Ukraine’s border with its dangerous Belarusian neighbor every day.
The military conducts training among abandoned huts near Chernobyl, TSN reports.
The place has long been unsuitable for living, there are many abandoned houses overgrown with trees, but it is ideal for military training – in fact, under the conditions of the city.
In the 30-kilometer exclusion zone, armored vehicles are now running through thickets, nearby are trenches that comply with all military and anti-radiation regulations. The DUGA radar station is clearly visible from them.
According to the legend of the events of February 24: the enemy broke through the border from the side of Belarus, which is less than 20 kilometers from here. The enemy is met by a ground defense brigade, reinforced by the National Guard. Mine barriers and artillery have to stop the enemy.
The army conducts such command and staff exercises regularly. All types of weapons work here at the same time, so that the conditions are as close as possible to combat. Soldiers learn to maneuver, mine the terrain and set up engineering barriers. Among them – there are new recruits, there are those who were shot in battles.
The boys here are jokingly called “Jedi”, because they are taught by an instructor with the call sign “Yoda” – a retired personnel officer who fought near Ilovaisk and Pisky. “These are no longer recruits. These are already well-fired guys – they are ready to carry out combat missions,” says the instructor.
While there are no significant changes on the Belarusian border, although this may change quickly, Russian troops continue to advance on the other side. “Our task is to be ready for possible actions from the Northern direction. Accordingly, we are constantly working on strengthening the defense”, – says the commander of the defense forces, Serhiy Naev.
