The Portuguese forward Tiago Tomás will return to Sporting, after a season and a half at Stuttgart, a club that decided not to go ahead with the option to buy the footballer.
“We decided not to activate the agreed purchase option for Tiago. This is mainly due to financial reasons. From a sporting point of view, Tiago was a very important player for us”, justified sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth.
Tiago Tomás, 20, was transferred to the German emblem in January 2022, with the club then having the option to purchase, for €15 million, according to the press.
“His performance over the last two seasons has done a lot for VfB to stay in the League. We wish him the best of luck in the next steps of his career”, added the Stuttgart director.
This season, the club played in the maintenance play-off against Hamburg, which they won at home (3-0) and away (3-1), with Tiago Tomás being used as a substitute in both.
In Stuttgart, emblem that already in this winter market signed the also Portuguese Gil Dias, the leonine striker played 46 games and scored eight goals.
