A project by the Junta de S. Vítor, in Braga, will put two generations in contact to fight social isolation. Parish is signaling cases.
Break social isolation and foster respect for older people. These are the main objectives of the “Cartas de Amigo” project, which, starting this month, will put students and elderly people in the parish of S. Vítor, in Braga, in contact, through the exchange of correspondence, as was done in the past. The Board, which promotes the initiative, will assume the role of postman, ensuring that the messages reach their destination.
“This idea came to the account of a gentleman who has been coming to the Junta de S. Vítor every afternoon. He left his activity at a kiosk and came to ask us to occupy his time. Hearing him tell his stories, this idea came up. to put seniors and younger generations in contact”, recalls the mayor, Ricardo Silva.
