CEC: a number of polling stations closed ahead of schedule due to shelling from Ukraine
A number of precinct commissions organized in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) as part of a referendum on the territory’s entry into Russia closed ahead of schedule due to shelling by the Ukrainian military, said Elena Kravchenko, chairwoman of the LPR CEC, TASS writes.
According to her, in some areas, work was stopped earlier for security reasons, as the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began shelling. “This is in Alchevsk, this is in Severodonetsk, where threats of shelling began to come in,” she stressed.
Earlier, the speaker of the People’s Council (NS) of the LPR, Denis Miroshnichenko, said that the issue of recognizing the results of the referendum on the accession of the LPR to Russia will remain on the conscience of Western countries. He stressed that he considers the referendum a restoration of historical justice, and called it “the starting point from the present to the future.”
