Soloist “Hands Up!” Sergey Zhukov sued the former producer over the rights to the songs
Soloist of the group “Hands up!” Sergei Zhukov filed a lawsuit against former producer Andrei Malikov and the Russian music label Jam Publishing LLC. It is reported by REN TV.
The reason for going to court was a dispute over exclusive neighboring rights to use phonograms of 13 songs of the group, including “My Baby”, “Alien Lips” and other hits. According to Zhukov’s representative Victoria Trunova, the performer did not transfer the rights to the compositions to Malikov.
“We declare that we did not transfer these rights to these phonograms to Andrei Malikov. That is, there were no contracts concluded between Zhukov and Malikov. Our principal did not sign the documents. Accordingly, Malikov could not conclude agreements with Jem for something that he does not possess, ”the lawyer said.
However, representatives of the music label insist that the organization is the owner of the exclusive license for the controversial soundtracks.
It is also noted that the court refused to impose obligations on the defendant in the form of a ban on taking actions on the use of exclusive related rights requested by the plaintiff.
Earlier it was reported that the Nirvana cover hero is again appealing against the court’s refusal to compensate.
