Midfielders Martim Neto and Diego Moreira were summoned by coach Nélson Veríssimo for Benfica’s trip to Paços de Ferreira, on the 34th and final round of the Portuguese League, in which regular starters, including Darwin Núñez, are not part.
As already mentioned in a press conference by coach Nélson Veríssimo, the midfielder and striker of the Eagles’ secondary teams are part of the 20-man squad, as well as left-back Sandro Cruz, central defender Tomás Araújo and striker Henrique Araújo – all have already made their debut for the A team this season -, and goalkeeper Svilar, still without games in the main team in 2021/22.
On the other hand, the big surprise turns out to be the Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez, Benfica’s top scorer of the season, with a total of 34 goals.
Furthermore, regarding the call-up for the classic against FC Porto, last Saturday, which ended with the victory of the Dragons (1-0) and, consequently, the conquest of the 30th national champion title, Vlachodimos, Grimaldo, Otamendi, Vertonghen, Tiago Gouveia, Nemanja, Weigl, Everton, Gonçalo Ramos and Seferovic.
The visit to Paços de Ferreira, for the 34th and final matchday of the League, starting at 8.15 pm and refereed by Hugo Silva (Santarém), will be Nelson Veríssimo’s last meeting as Benfica coach.
