In St. Petersburg, the court gave 9 years in prison to a spouse who broke a bottle on his wife and killed her
The Kolpinsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced 47-year-old local resident Maxim Shuvaev to 9 years in a strict regime colony for the murder of his wife. On Thursday, March 2, Lente.ru was informed by the joint press service of the city courts.
The Russian was found guilty under part 4 of article 111 (“Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in the death of the victim”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The investigation and the court established that on the evening of May 18, 2022, Shuvaev drank alcohol not far from the store where his wife came out with groceries. There was a conflict between the spouses, as a result of which the man broke a glass bottle on the woman’s head. The victim fell on the asphalt, then Shuvaev sat on top of her and began to beat her with his fists. The woman died in the hospital from a blunt head injury with a skull fracture. The defendant admitted his guilt and stated that he did not want to kill his wife.
Earlier it was reported that in St. Petersburg a man strangled his wife in front of two children and tried to commit suicide.
