Russia adds Facebook owner to list of extremist organizations

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has been included by Russia in the list of extremist organizations, announced the Ministry of Defense.

According to the authorities, Meta allowed calls for violence against Russian citizens.

For Russia, Meta also allowed social media under its control to spread false information and “terrorist propaganda”.

At the end of March, Russian justice had already declared the target as an extremist organization, having ratified the decision weeks later.
