“Yes, a draw that tastes like defeat. We knew Moreirense were a good team. We didn’t play badly, we created many occasions, but we missed too many opportunities to win. The first half was very good with the ball, we were very creative up front. second half we created a lot of good moments, but we missed a lot of chances. We have to accept it, it’s part of football. You can’t always win or reach all the goals. I can’t say too much bad about the players. We wanted to win. We always try our best in all competitions, but sometimes you have to accept that other teams are better. We have to congratulate Moreirense, move on and focus on other competitions”, began by saying Roger Schmidt, already pointing out batteries for the game with Braga .

“There are still a few days to go. We will use the next few days to train well. The players will return from the World Cup and we have to create the same spirit, the same mentality and work on some details of our tactical behavior. The fans were fantastic as always. They are always there. with us. They supported the team after the game despite the disappointment. We can always count on them”, he concluded.

Benfica drew (1-1), this Saturday, with Moreirense and is out of the League Cup. André Luís and Gonçalo Ramos scored the goals of the match. Moreira de Cónegos’ side managed to hold on to the result until the end, thus winning first place in the group, with seven points, the same as Benfica, but with an advantage in goals scored, 7-4 for Moreirense, against 6-3 for Benfica. In the other match that ended the group’s accounts, between teams from the II Liga, Estrela da Amadora drew 1-1 against Penafiel.
