Almost five months after the flood of January 7th, the residents of the Moinhos neighborhood, in Fontainhas, regret the lack of support. Ilda Figueiredo, CDU councilor, visited the site and ensures that she will take the matter to the executive’s meeting on Monday.
On the day of the flood, the force of the water was such that not even the roof of Damião Gomes’ house could resist. After almost five months, the resident of number 22 in the Moinhos neighborhood, in Fontainhas, exposed his discontent and lack of support for residents of that area.
The words were heard this Saturday morning by the CDU councilor, Ilda Figueiredo, who guaranteed that she will take the matter to the executive meeting tomorrow.
According to Damião Gomes, since the storm hit, “no one has ever shown up”. The ceilings “are still damaged and all fallen and the rest were promises”, vented the resident.
Opposite, at number 25, José Aires also saw the water entering his house. The door was even broken down by the flood. “The door was put by me. In fact, everything that is composed, I paid for”, says the man, stressing that he could not wait for them to resolve the situation. In this case, “there was no door at home until today”.
Like many residents in that neighborhood, José and Damião also had a lot of broken equipment at home. “I was no longer able to take a shower or wash clothes”, exemplifies José Aires, who recalls the support of the Parish Council of Bonfim: “We were given the public changing rooms and access to a laundry”
Weeks after the episode that flooded the streets of Porto, Rui Moreira referred to the Executive’s desire to acquire the island, since it is “marked as a danger zone”. “Until today, there have been no more advances on this issue”, said Ilda Figueiredo.
At the site, the CDU councilor also guaranteed that “the matter will not be forgotten”. “We are here to take measures and prevent the situation from being prolonged or repeated,” she assured.
