Turkish Hoteliers Federation Board Member and Alanya Touristic Operators Association President Burhan Sili said that tourism fairs and reservations give a positive outlook for the next season.
Stating that they left 2022 behind in the shadow of problems such as the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, Sili said, “If global problems do not arise, the industry will spend 2023 better than 2022.” said.
Tourism interest from the Far East
Explaining that the best work they did during the epidemic process was to increase the market resource, Sili said, “We did not only sell sea, sand and sun during this period. We developed and presented products for Turkey in general. While we were locked only in Europe before, today we are open to the East, Far East and other markets. ” he said.
Sili drew attention to the fact that the main reason for catching the 2019 numbers in tourism in 2022, despite the Russia-Ukraine war, is to increase the market.
Pointing out that both the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the regional dynamics are making great efforts in this regard, Sili said, “There is a tourism idea in 81 provinces. Therefore, every city and every region welcomes guests and is in demand. We are working together to take Turkey’s tourism to much better points.” used his statements.
Social media is actively used in promotion
Burhan Sili stated that the number of hotels open in winter has increased this year, and this rate is much higher in Antalya.
Sili stated that although it is winter, all of the facilities in Antalya’s Kundu region and most of those in Belek provide service.
“The number of open hotels in the Side region is also higher than in previous years. 10 percent of the facilities in Alanya are open. The occupancy rate is much higher than in previous years. The studies carried out by the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and the open flight network bear fruit. “The Safe Tourism Certification application has increased the demand. In addition, we are making a serious promotion effort by using not only visual and written but also social media channels. We are getting the results of this.”
“Turkey is on the way to become a holiday destination where the best holiday is at the best price”
Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency Board Member Şükrü Cimrin reminded that the 2022 tourism season was good.
Reminding that the all-time record was broken in tourism in 2019, Cimrin said, “However, the global epidemic that followed affected the whole world. We entered the recovery process in 2022 and approached the 2019 figures. Our 2023 target is 60 million tourists. This is a high but realistic target. Turkish tourism is in this direction. “With the Safe Tourism Certificate and the work of the TGA, our confidence coefficient is increasing. In this sense, 2023 will exceed 2019 and will be a new record year.” made its assessment.
Cimrin reported that the all-time record was broken in tourist arrivals in January 2023.
Stating that the demands from the UK, Germany, Finland and Poland are high when looking at the facilities that are open, Cimrin said, “The market is active right now. 14 million tourists came to Antalya in 2019, and 13 million guests were hosted in 2022. This year, 17 million “We have a tourist expectation. This figure corresponds to 25 percent of Turkish tourism.” said.
Stating that Turkey used to be a destination where the best holiday was taken at the cheapest price, Cimrin said that it is now a way out of this and is on the way to become a holiday destination where the best holiday is at the best price.
Noting that they have increased the prices in this sense, Cimrin said, “The important thing here is how many tourists we host as well as how much income we earn per capita. It is also important how many nights the guests stay. We are also trying to increase the number of overnight stays. We are trying to gradually close the price gap between us and Spain. ” he said.
