Real Madrid’s slip leaves Barcelona on the doorstep of the title

Real Madrid’s defeat against Real Sociedad (2-0) opens the way for Barcelona to win the Spanish League. The Catalans can make the party already in the next journey.

If at the start of the 33rd round, the revalidation of the Spanish title was complicated for Real Madrid, it turned into a true mirage after this Tuesday’s round.

A few hours after Barcelona had beaten Osasuna by 1-0, the “meringues” fell in the Basque Country against Real Sociedad (2-0), in a game marked by the error of Eder Militão in the move in which Kubo advanced the team from house on marker.

In the opening moments of the second half, the Brazilian international central defender, who passed through FC Porto, handed the ball to the Japanese, who limited himself to pushing it into the back of the opposing goal despite a last desperate attempt by Courtois to avoid the goal .

Shortly afterwards, Dani Carvajal was sent off, further complicating Real Madrid’s mission, which was unable to avoid the setback.

The game was decided five minutes from the 90 minutes, when Barrenetxea scored Real Sociedad’s second goal, assisted by the “eternal” David Silva.

Five days from the end of the Spanish League, Barcelona lead the leaderboard with 14 points ahead of Real Madrid. The title party could happen on the next day, in the Catalan derby against Espanyol.

As for Real Sociedad, it remains in fourth place in La Liga, the last one that guarantees a place in the next edition of the Champions League.
