Twelve districts on the mainland are this Friday under yellow warning due to the forecast of showers, sometimes strong and accompanied by thunderstorms, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real, Bragança, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém and Castelo Branco will be under yellow warning until 3 pm today.
The yellow warning is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the continent generally very cloudy skies, temporarily with good openings from mid-afternoon, and light to moderate wind, sometimes strong in the coastal strip north of Cabo Raso until early morning and in the highlands.
The forecast also points to periods of rain or showers, which in the North and Center regions can be locally strong and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms until mid-afternoon, with greater probability until early morning.
Temporary haze or fog is also forecast in some places and a small drop in maximum temperature in the North and Center regions.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 12 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 18 (in Faro and Aveiro) and the maximum between 18 (in Guarda) and 26 (in Évora and Beja).
