Since it was launched three years ago, in the midst of a pandemic, the SNS 24 psychological counseling line has answered more than 210,000 calls, 14,000 of which were made by health professionals.
In a statement sent to the newsrooms, regarding the third anniversary of the SNS service, the Ministry of Health highlighted that the service, always carried out by psychologists, “has been a close response in mental health and a support for users and health professionals who look for her in difficult moments”.
This year alone, the line has already received more than 17,000 calls, approaching an average of 200 daily calls. “The calls received are related to problems and symptoms associated with anxiety, the aggravation of previous psychopathology, management and adaptation in a crisis situation”, clarifies the Government, detailing that, when the psychologist identifies a case of danger for the user himself or third parties, the call is transferred to INEM, which ensures that emergency means are activated.
