    Proença congratulates Argentina and highlights Otamendi and Enzo

    The president of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP), Pedro Proença, congratulated Argentina this Sunday for winning the world title, in a final in which they beat France on penalties, highlighting Otamendi and Enzo Férnandez.

    “Congratulations to Argentina for the title of world champion, conquered after an emotional match against France”, he said in a message on social networks.

    Pedro Proença also highlighted the fact that the Benfica champions Nicolás Otamendi and Enzo Fernández, champions for Argentina, gave the first World title to the League, as the first footballers to win the competition while participating in the Portuguese championship.

    “For the first time in history, the Portuguese League has two representatives in the batch of new world champions: Otamendi and Enzo Fernández, who was recognized as the best young player of the tournament. international players, who find here a real space for international projection”, he stressed.

    The LPFP president also praised the Portuguese team, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Morocco, and highlighted the players present at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar who play in Portugal.

    “A competition in which Portuguese professional football was very well represented, not only in the honorable participation of the national team, which managed to reach the quarter-finals for only the third time in its history, but also thanks to the presence in the competition of 19 footballers wearing , currently, jerseys of clubs from professional competitions, in a total of 79 players who were in Qatar and who have, at some stage of their career, connection to Portuguese football”, he added.

    Argentina won the World Cup for the third time today, repeating 1978 and 1986, by beating France 4-2 on penalties, after 3-3 in the 120 minutes.
