Most of the facilities of “Ukrenergo” were damaged as a result of Russian shelling in the winter.
Although there is usually a surplus of power in Ukraine during the spring and summer, this year there may be a shortage of electricity in the summer.
This was stated by the chairman of the board of “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi on the air of a nationwide telethon.
According to him, most of the facilities of “Ukrenergo” were damaged as a result of Russian shelling in the winter.
“We are now actively engaged in their restoration. Thermal and hydroelectric power plants, which covered a significant part of our balance, were also seriously damaged. Therefore, the repair campaign in the spring and summer of 2023 will be one of the most difficult due to large-scale winter destruction,” said Kudrytskyi.
He also reminded that several large power plants remain under occupation – in particular, the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
“We didn’t have enough of them last winter and we don’t have enough now. We will activate all available generating capacities in the summer in order to maintain the balance of the energy system during the repair period. But it is possible that instead of exporting electricity, which has now recovered, it will be necessary to use imports,” says the chairman “Ukrenergo”.
According to him, electricity shortage is a seasonal phenomenon.
“In Ukraine, there was a surplus of capacity throughout the spring and summer, so we could export electricity. The deficit in the power system appeared in the fall and winter. But this year, due to the damage to our power plants, we may see a deficit in the summer as well, and it will have to be compensated by increasing the capacity of the power plants , as well as the import of electricity,” added Kudrytskyi.
Previously, the Russian propagandist Skabeyeva was unlucky because “not all Ukrainians are suffering.” She was angry that in our country they no longer turn off the electricity.
We remind you that the upper limits of electricity tariffs for private consumers may increase from UAH 1.68 to UAH 2.4, or by UAH 2.8 per kWh. The expert explained why this cannot be avoided.
