The Porto City Council plans to create another 500 paid parking spaces on the city’s streets by mid-2023. The indication is part of a proposal that will go to the Executive meeting this Monday, on the equalization of inspectors at E-Porto, concessionaire of parking meters, to agents of the administrative authority and adequacy of the contingent to inspection needs.
The text of the proposal indicates that, currently, the concession covers 9633 places with a parking meter. And that “from six thousand places, the expansion is implemented through the compensation system for issuing resident cards, provided for in the terms of reference”.
Parking meters, in Porto, are paid from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 7 pm, and in the central area of the city, you also have to pay on Saturdays, between 11 am and 4 pm.
“The maximum duration of parking is 2 hours, 4 hours and 6 hours depending on the zones, with the shortest duration being in the city centre”, further explains the Municipality.
In its non-binding opinion on adapting the number of existing inspectors to the needs of the inspection service, the Chamber indicates that the ratio should be up to 300 posts per inspector on foot.
