Pope Francis, 86, the spiritual leader of the Catholics, was discharged from Gemelli Hospital in Rome, the capital of Italy, on Wednesday, where he was hospitalized due to shortness of breath.
In the statement made by the Vatican, it was stated that Pope Francis, who was diagnosed with bronchitis, responded quickly to the treatment.
Leaving the hospital in the morning, Pope Francis greeted the journalists waiting for him outside and those who wished him well soon.
Saying “I’m not afraid, I’m still alive”, the Pope then set off for the Vatican in his vehicle.
Vatican Spokesperson Matteo Bruni said in a statement on March 29 that Pope Francis has had difficulty breathing in recent days and will stay in the hospital for a few days to be treated for a respiratory infection, and said, “The tests showed that he has a respiratory infection that will require medical treatment for a few days.”
