At least one dead and two wounded were registered in Belgorod, Russia, in attacks with artillery fire from Ukraine, announced the governor of the region, Viacheslav Gladkov.
More than 200 artillery shells, including mortars, hit the territory of the Belgorod region in the last 24 hours, the governor wrote on the Telegram social network.
A factory security guard died and two people were wounded in the town of Shebekino, in whose district a total of 103 mortars fell, according to Viacheslav
The number of impacts was even higher (115) in the district of Graivoron, where, according to the regional authorities, three administrative buildings and five houses were damaged.
Last Monday, the district of Graivoron was the scene of an armed incursion by a detachment of about a hundred “Ukrainian saboteurs”, according to the Russian authorities, an action that was claimed by two groups of Russians who are fighting on the side from Kiev: Russian Volunteer Corps and Freedom Legion for Russia.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, all participants in the raid were liquidated by Russian troops, an allegation denied by both groups.
The military offensive launched on February 24, 2022 by Russia in Ukraine has so far caused the flight of more than 14.7 million people – 6.5 million internally displaced and more than 8.2 million to European countries -, according to with the latest data from the UN, which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).
