Train with US military equipment derailed in Greece, restoration work started
Near the port of Alexandroupolis in northern Greece, a train loaded with military equipment from the US Army derailed. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the portal 902.gr of the Communist Party of Greece.
The incident occurred on the morning of December 2 after American tanks and armored vehicles were unloaded at the port and the train began moving towards the NATO border. However, at the French Station, the train went off the rails.
Currently, restoration work has begun at the scene using cranes. The police cordoned off the area to protect the vehicles.
The port of Alexandroupolis, according to US officials, is used to transport weapons to Ukraine.
Earlier on December 3, Patrick Buchanan, a contributor to The American Conservative, said that the United States would stop supplying weapons to Ukraine if it appeared that the risks of escalation outweighed Washington’s interests. The observer pointed out that there were too many supporters of the escalation of the conflict in the West. Especially brightly, in his opinion, this manifested itself after the fall of missiles in Poland. Before Republicans take control of the House of Representatives in January, Democrats are expected to approve US President Joe Biden’s $38 billion request for Ukraine.
