With less than a month to go before the deadline, seven out of ten municipalities have not yet signed a transfer notice. Government wants to speed up the process.
Seven out of ten municipal councils eligible for the decentralization of competences in the area of Health have not yet accepted the voluntary transfer. The Government met, on Tuesday, with the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) to accelerate the process, which is less than a month from the deadline of March 31. And the postponement of the deadline is not in the equation.
Of the 201 councils eligible to receive the supervision of health centers, only 57 (28%) already have this responsibility. The poor adherence with less than a month to the deadline led the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, and the Minister of Modernization of the State and Public Administration, Alexandra Leitão, to meet with the ANMP to speed up the process.
