The GNR detained, in Gaia, a 34-year-old man, suspected of robbing elderly women in the district of Porto and Aveiro. When he was intercepted by the Guard, he was traveling in a stolen car, which he was driving without a license. He was remanded in custody.
The individual was arrested this Tuesday, in Grijó, Gaia, as part of an investigation for several thefts and robberies, which took place between the 23rd and 25th of this month, in the districts of Porto and Aveiro. Victims were mostly elderly women.
“During the police action and after being spotted by the Guard’s military, the detainee fled in a stolen vehicle, disobeying the orders of the military, practicing dangerous driving and endangering other road users”, revealed the GNR. , in a statement released this Friday.
After being intercepted, the GNR carried out a summary search of the vehicle, having seized several wallets containing bank cards and personal documents, a mobile phone and even three doses of heroin and three doses of cocaine.
The detainee, who has already served an effective prison sentence for offenses of the same nature, was heard at the Porto Criminal Investigation Court, and the coercive measure of preventive detention was applied to him.
The police action was reinforced by the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of Vila Nova de Gaia.
