A man died when he was run over, this Tuesday night, by a train on the Porto metro. The accident took place near the Pedras Rubras station, in Moreira da Maia. Circulation on the Red Line, between Porto and Póvoa de Varzim, is conditioned between that station and Verdes station.
The Volunteer Firefighters of Moreira da Maia were called to an accident on the Porto metro line next to the Pedras Rubras station. According to a source from that corporation, the alert, received at 10 pm, was intended to help a man in cardiac arrest, death having been declared on the spot. He was about 50 years old.
Contacted by JN, Metro do Porto confirms the accident, adding that circulation on the Red Line, between Porto and Póvoa de Varzim, is conditioned between Pedras Rubras station and Verdes station, being done on only one lane.
The GNR and the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) from Hospital de S. João are also on site.
