(CNN) — The Ecuadorian Police reported early Monday morning that together with the Fire Department and the community of Alausí, in the province of Chimborazo, they are working to rescue people trapped by a landslide that affected several homes.
According to the Ecuadorian Police, 6 people have been rescued so far.

President Guillermo Lazo, for his part, reported on his Twitter account that due to the landslides in Alausí, he has ordered the immediate activation of Riesgos Ecuador and all State portfolios. And he added that fire teams from Guamote, Chunchi, Riobamba and Cuenca are also being mobilized to care for affected citizens.
