On Monday, September 5, Kyiv was again engulfed in smog.
The capital of Ukraine was on the first place in the ranking of the dirtiest cities in the world.
Yes, according to the service IQ-Airaccording to the level of air pollution, on the morning of September 5, Kyiv became the most polluted city in the world.
Bogotá (Colombia) was in second place, El-Kuwait (Kuwait) was third.
As the State Emergency Service explained, the reason for the smog in the capital of Ukraine is peat fires. Currently, there are two centers in the region – near the village of Sosnivka in the Vyshgorod district and near the village of Pershe Travnya in the Brovar district.
According to rescuers, the cause of today’s burning of the peatland was either the uncontrolled burning of grass or a carelessly thrown butt. “There is a 90% probability that the cause was either the first or the second,” rescuers told TSN.ua.
It is worth noting that as of 13:00 Kyiv u rating of the world’s most polluted cities dropped from the first to the sixth step.
We will remind, on the morning of September 5, in the Obolonsky and Podilskyi districts, as well as in the territories close to them of the Kyiv region, strong smoke was observed in connection with the fires in the region. Over time, caustic smog covered almost the entire capital. At the same time, the KMDA emphasized that the smog in Kyiv will be maintained on September 5-6.
