Analyst Sukonkin spoke about the lack of people in Kyiv to service Abrams tanks
Kyiv will not be able to service the Abrams tanks promised by US President Joe Biden due to the lack of people and equipment in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU). Military expert Alexei Sukonkin spoke about the difficulties with servicing American vehicles in an interview with News.ru.
He noted that maintenance of one tank according to US standards requires 120 technical personnel, as well as equipment for transporting spare parts and the engine. According to Sukonkin, Kyiv will not have enough of the eight armored recovery vehicles promised by Washington.
The analyst added that during the Iraq War, clogged engine filters were changed on Abrams tanks in 20 minutes. “But the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to properly repair and provide Abrams, like other Western tanks, this is impossible. Plus, we need trucks to transport spare parts, the same, about 10 engines, attachments, ”added Sukonkin.
He also stressed that the Ukrainian army is the heir of the USSR Armed Forces, in which there were repairmen servicing combat vehicles only at the division or brigade level.
