New DC Studios CEO James Gunn Confirms Some Studios Projects Are Shutting Down
The new head of DC Studios, James Gunn, commented on the rumors about the rejection of the release of “Wonder Woman 3”, as well as “Man of Steel 2” and the continuation of “Aquaman”. A post on this topic appeared in his Twitter-account.
The screenwriter confirmed the closure of some of the studio’s projects, but did not explain which of them were in question. “Regarding yesterday’s article in The Holywodd Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half true, some of it is false, and some of it we haven’t decided if it’s true or not yet,” Gunn wrote.
He noted that after his entry into the position of head of the studio, there will be a transitional period. According to him, the shortcomings of this period can be eclipsed by “opportunities to build on what has worked so far at DC and fix what hasn’t.”
The Hollywood Reporter, citing its own sources, previously reported that new DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran planned to restart the MCU without Aquaman and Superman. It was alleged that they had decided to drop Man of Steel 2, which would have featured Henry Cavill as Superman. Also, DC executives intend to abandon the continuation of “Aquaman” – the role of this superhero is played by Jason Momoa. It is noted that after the picture “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, which will be released in 2023, the actor will be offered another role in the MCU. In addition, it was alleged that DC Studios executives had suspended work on Wonder Woman 3.
