Istanbul-based DAESH operation: 9 detentions

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams carried out a simultaneous operation in 9 Istanbul-based cities against 14 suspects who financed the DEASH terrorist organization.

The gendarmerie teams, which started an investigation in line with the work to decipher the actions and activities of DEASH and in line with the MASAK reports, identified 14 suspects who transferred the money they collected under the name of aid to the families of the members of the organization in prisons and so-called conflict zones, through social media formations, to the DEASH armed terrorist organization.

In the operation organized by the gendarmerie teams against the suspects identified in Istanbul, Ankara, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Tokat, Adıyaman, Mardin, Rize and Şanlıurfa under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 9 members of the organization were detained.

A large number of digital materials seized during the operation were confiscated for examination.
