Israel: We have no intention of building new settlements in the north of the West Bank

Claiming that the northern part of the occupied West Bank is “part of the historical homeland of the Jews”, Netanyahu claimed that “a discriminatory and humiliating regulation that prohibits Jews from living in the north of the West Bank has been abolished” with the law passed in the Parliament.

The law, approved by the Israeli Parliament on March 21, aims to ensure that up to 10,000 Jewish settlers return to the settlements in the north of the occupied West Bank from which they were removed in 2005.

Under international law, all Jewish settlements in the occupied territories are considered illegal.
