The first income support payments will start to be processed this Tuesday, and should reach, in this initial phase, almost 35 thousand beneficiaries, who will receive an average monthly amount of 86.72 euros.
The measure, created to mitigate the impact of rising prices and housing on household income, covers lease contracts concluded until March 15, 2023 and registered on the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) Portal.
The data relating to the processing of the supports that are starting to be made today were referred, in response to Lusa, by the Ministry of Housing, which specified that these first payments are for households with exclusive Social Security income.
“The first payments, to households with exclusive Social Security income, will be processed on May 30”, said the same official source, specifying that there are 34,937 beneficiaries and that the average monthly value of the support they will receive is 86.72 euros, which is equivalent to 1,040.64 euros per year.
The total universe of beneficiaries of the measure is, however, wider, with the Government estimating that it currently has the exact number of households eligible for this rental support, whose maximum monthly value can go up to 200 euros and which will be paid retroactively to January.
This support is granted to households with tax residence in Portugal, whose income tax exceeds 35% and with income up to the maximum limit of the sixth step of the IRS, and is officially granted, without the need for a request.
It should be noted that the support reaches all people who meet the aforementioned requirements but who are not obliged to submit an annual IRS declaration and who have monthly income from work declared to social security or are beneficiaries of social benefits such as an old-age pension, survivors’, disability or social pensions, unemployment benefits, parenting benefits, sickness and occupational disease subsidies, with attribution period not less than one month, Social insertion income (RSI), Social benefit for inclusion (PSI), Complement solidarity allowance for the elderly (CSI) or subsidy to support the main informal caregiver.
After this first survey of the beneficiaries, the support is paid until the 20th of each month, being paid every six months when its value is less than 20 euros per month.
