Newsweek: Russia is preparing an unpleasant surprise for NATO in the form of a change in the status quo
Moscow may present NATO with an “unpleasant surprise” in the form of a change in the status quo, despite its commitment to a defense strategy. This is reported by the American edition of Newsweek.
Grounds for predicting the worst development of events appeared against the backdrop of the report of the North Atlantic Alliance bloc on the progress of the special operation in Ukraine.
“Saving the ability to participate in operations against NATO can explain some of the features and “surprises” of the Russian army in Ukraine. For example, in the gradual deployment of older and less accurate weapons systems, the limited use of aircraft, as well as discreet attacks in cyberspace.
Western analysts believe that Russia can change the status quo, despite the commitment to a defensive strategy.
On July 4, NATO officially recognized Russia as its main threat. According to the new concept, Russia’s goal is to destabilize the states to the east and south of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
