The Hungarian Foreign Ministry said that Budapest will not support the movement of Kyiv towards the EU and NATO
Hungary is not going to support Ukraine’s movement towards the European Union (EU) and NATO until Kyiv restores the rights of Transcarpathian Hungarians. This was stated by the Foreign Ministry of the European country, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, the head of the administration of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Gergely Guiyash, has already stated that Budapest rejects the ratification of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union (EU) until the oppression of the rights of ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia by Kiev stops.
Prior to this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, said that Kyiv had never been a partner of Budapest in the issue of Transcarpathian Hungarians. According to the diplomat, the rights of Transcarpathian Hungarians have been consistently reduced and violated with each new law adopted since 2015.
