The Court of Guimarães determined, this Wednesday, the coercive measure of house arrest to four of the five men arrested on Tuesday by the PJ of Braga for robbing an elderly couple, in April 2022, when the victims were sleep at home in Vila Nova de Famalicão.
The defendants, who are indicted for two crimes of aggravated theft, will, however, remain in prison until the electronic bracelet is placed on them.
A judicial source told JN that one of those involved was released with a term of identity and residence because his role in the robbery had not been determined.
The crime took place on April 22, at 10:30 pm, with the suspects using firearms, a pistol and a 20-centimeter knife with a spring-loaded edge.
The group entered the residence after having forced the entrance gate and the garage door, having gone to the room where they slept and where they searched wallets and furniture looking for valuables, keeping the couple under threat.
The elderly, who were dedicated to agriculture, were left without gold (threads and wedding rings), money, bags of seeds and other products for agriculture, all worth 5137 euros. “After the consummation of the wrongdoings, [os suspeitos] They fled to an unknown location, diverting the stolen goods”, he adds.
The detainees are between 20 and 52 years old and live in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Penafiel and Gondomar.
According to the PJ, “they acted in a broader context of the execution of various crimes against property, being already widely referenced by the police authorities, namely by the GNR of Santo Tirso, which collaborated in the collection of relevant evidence”.
They were arrested on Tuesday, in compliance with court orders.
