Head-on collision between truck and light vehicle kills one on IC1

A frontal collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a light vehicle, during the early hours of this Wednesday, on the IC1, in Messines, in the municipality of Silves, caused one death.

The alert was given at 2.38 am for an accident at kilometer 726 of the IC1.

The mortal victim, a 45-year-old man of German nationality, was traveling in a light vehicle. Death was declared on the spot by the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle team.

In the rescue operations, 19 elements were involved, supported by eight firefighters vehicles, as well as the GNR.

Traffic was cut off in both directions of the IC1 between the Messines junction and the Tunes junction and it was reopened at 7.10 am, after investigations had been carried out by the GNR’s Criminal Investigation Unit for Road Accidents.
