Grasshoppers invaded the houses and agricultural lands in the village of Çevrepınar in the district of Şiran. The teams of the District Directorate of Agriculture have started work for the grasshoppers that eat and destroy crops such as peppers, tomatoes and beans in the gardens.

In the examinations, it was determined that the species, whose number exceeds thousands, is the ‘green grasshopper’, which is found in all regions of Turkey. Crews carried out pest control. However, when heavy rains reduced the effect of the drug, the struggle did not yield any results.

    Rains negatively affect spraying

In the statement made by the Şiran District Directorate of Agriculture, it was stated that there was a locust invasion in the district before. It was reported that the spraying work against locusts was continued, but the rains negatively affected the struggle.
