The GNR detained four men, aged between 30 and 50, who are suspected of three dozen robberies in Braga, Barcelos and Famalicão. Two of them were held in custody.
The suspects were arrested last Wednesday in the towns of Ferreiros and Celeirós, in the municipality of Braga, as part of an investigation that had been going on for about two months involving thefts in commercial establishments.
The robberies began in March of this year and the steps taken by the Guard made it possible to list the suspects in nine thefts. During the course of the action “it was also possible to determine that the individuals are suspected of the authorship of more than two dozen qualified thefts, also, in several locations in the municipalities of Barcelos and Famalicão, whose damages amount to thousands of euros”, said the GNR, in a statement released on Monday.
Eight searches were carried out, which led to the apprehension of various articles related to illicit acts.
The detainees were heard at the Judicial Court of Braga, where two of the suspects were ordered to coerce preventive detention, having been taken to the Prison of Braga. Another of the detainees was subject to three-weekly presentations at the police station in the area of residence and the fourth suspect to term identity and residence.
