AKORT: prices for delicacies before the New Year will remain unchanged
Prices for deli groups of goods will remain unchanged before the New Year. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the chairman of the presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT) Igor Karavaev.
“AKORT does not expect an increase in prices for delicacy products – fish delicacies, smoked meats, sausages, vegetables and fruits, as well as sparkling wines before the New Year. It is important to take into account the competition factor and the desire of retail chains to support consumers during the festive period with the help of discounts and attractive prices for popular goods for the New Year’s table,” Karavaev assessed the prospects.
According to the head of ACORT, retailers are even seeing price cuts for some product groups or limited growth that lags behind inflation. “Despite a slight increase in inflation from 0.06 percent to 0.11 percent over the past week, in general, we are seeing stabilization and even a decrease in prices for a number of goods, as retailers invest in prices,” Karavaev said.
A similar opinion is shared by representatives of large retail chains. So, Magnit stated that they did not receive notifications from manufacturers to increase selling prices, so there are no external factors on the shelf for their growth. And the Lenta supermarket chain noted that the company does not plan to raise prices and sees no prerequisites for their growth.
Earlier, Mikhail Belyaev, Candidate of Economic Sciences, expressed a different opinion, pointing out that prices for “long-term” storage products, on the contrary, would rise at the very beginning of winter. On average, according to economist estimates, prices will rise by 5-15 percent, depending on the category of goods. According to Belyaev, the rise in prices for fish delicacies and caviar will be the most noticeable. Delicious smoked meats are expected to rise in price by 10 percent, as well as alcohol.
