Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko gave an interview to Corriere della Sera, one of Italy’s highest circulation newspapers.
Reminding that many prisoners were exchanged in Donbas while he was on duty, Poroshenko stated that more than 4,000 prisoners were exchanged during his presidency, and that this number was less than 500 in 7 months.
Asked if the situation was different, Poroshenko said, “Everything has changed. But there is one thing in common: Erdogan’s role. He was also involved in reaching an agreement with the Crimean Tatars. At that time, the first direct meeting was between Putin and Erdogan. Now the partnership is Samarkand. repeated at its peak.” used his statements.
Recalling that President Erdogan played a role in resolving the grain crisis and now in the prisoner exchange, Poroshenko said, “He has the tools to put pressure on Putin: Many Russians have interests in Turkey, but at the same time, Erdogan never recognized the annexation of Crimea to Russia. It can be a mediator in this war.” made its assessment.
“Isn’t it strange that Putin released the Azov Battalion soldiers?” Poroshenko replied, “Nothing is impossible in the face of all Putin’s propaganda. Erdogan knows this too. I had to deal with Putin and I can say three things about it: First, never trust him because he lies about everything. Second, don’t be afraid of him.” Third, remember that Putin only understands the language of power.” gave the answer.
Noting that declaring mobilization is a sensitive situation, Poroshenko said:
“Putin says he lost 6,000 soldiers? Then why is there any need to mobilize 300,000 reservists? He lost at least 150,000 men, including dead, wounded and missing. Meanwhile, there are 2,000 protesters detained in Russia. “Similar numbers have not been seen for years. These are signals of instability.”
