Despite the fact that similar operations had not been performed in Odesa before, the transplantation was completed successfully.
In Odesa City Hospital No. 10, a team of doctors from the Institute of the Heart of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, led by cardiac surgeon Boris Todurov, performed a heart transplant.
About this informs press service of the Odesa city administration.
“This is an extremely complex operation, which requires experienced specialists of the highest level, a specially equipped operating room with an artificial blood circulation device, as well as a quick selection of the recipient. The heart surgeon has no more than four hours to carry out the main stage of the operation,” the message reads.
Similar operations had never been performed in Odesa before, but the transplant was completed successfully. A 43-year-old man received a donor heart. The Odesa hospital was added to the unified state transplant information system.
We previously reported that a heart transplant was performed for the first time in Zhytomyr. Doctors of the Heart Institute saved a young girl with a rare blood type.
