Finance concluded that the licensing complies with Braga’s PDM
The General Inspection of Finance cleared the Braga Chamber of having committed any illegality in the licensing of the urbanization of Quinta das Portas, concluded in the previous mandate by the Councilor for Urbanism, Miguel Bandeira. “The subdivision proposal complies with the urban parameters imposed by the PDM”, concluded the inspectors. The licensing process was 55 years old, but the subdivision had never moved forward.
The IGF decision was communicated last night, Friday, at the Municipal Assembly by President Ricardo Rio, when he criticized the position taken by the PS in the same body, also in the previous mandate by the then leader of the socialist group, Pedro Sousa, and by the current João Nogueira: “Those who suggested the illegality of this process were blushing with shame and did not hesitate to ask for the resignation of the Councilor for Urbanism, casting an anathema on those who had the courage to resolve legally one of the most intricate processes that the municipality licensed”.
The mayor’s criticism led to a request to defend the honor of João Nogueira. “It makes no sense to criticize someone who has fulfilled the duty of supervising the Executive’s management acts”, he replied. He added that the criticism made by a municipal deputy “cannot be disputed by the mayor even if there is some injustice in it”.
Pedro Casinhas, from CDU, reaffirmed the criticism of the urban planning operation, defending that an urban park should have been born there.
