The new Political Commission of the BE, coordinated by Mariana Mortágua, maintains, among other names, the former leader Catarina Martins, a body in which José Gusmão and Pedro Soares enter and Mário Tomé, who was not elected to the National Board, left.
According to information given to the Lusa agency by an official source of the party, shortly after the closing of the XIII National Convention of the BE, the newly elected National Board met for the first time and elected the Bloquista Political Commission, the body that ensures the day-to-day direction of the party .
According to the winning motion, “the coordination of the Political Commission will be the responsibility of whoever heads the list with the most votes for the National Board of the Left Bloc”, that is, Mariana Mortágua.
Catarina Martins remains, as reported by Lusa, and Pedro Soares, face of the internal opposition and MEP José Gusmão, former MP Moisés Ferreira and historian Miguel Cardina, enter the winning list.
At the outset, among other names, is the historic UDP Mário Tomé who, being in 18th place on the list of motion E, was not elected, since it only managed 13 seats.
For this new constitution of the body, four names were indicated by the motion of the internal opposition and 17 by the winner.
From the management, hard core names such as Fabian Figueiredo, Isabel Pires, Joana Mortágua, Jorge Costa, José Soeiro, Marisa Matias or Pedro Filipe Soares remain.
“The Political Commission, the body that ensures the daily direction of the Movement, namely the connection with its national and European parliamentary groups and the implementation of the MN’s deliberations on the political orientation of the elected representatives, elects a National Secretariat for executive coordination tasks “, can be read in the statutes of the party.
