Body swap postpones funeral in Braga

An exchange of corpses forced the cancellation of a funeral, on Tuesday morning, in the parish of Gualtar, in Braga.

According to the head of Eurofunerária, Luís Martins, it was Teresa Marques’ daughters who realized that it was not the mother who was in the coffin, when it arrived at the church, an hour before the wake mass began.

“The Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) sent the process with a photo of a body and the husband went to the agency and confirmed that it was the woman. [ontem]we went to get this body from the church and the daughters said it wasn’t the mother”, says Luís Martins, adding that the IML of Braga Hospital sent the photo of Teresa Marques to another family and the same confirmed it to be the real body, when “So there was another family that was also wrong”, he sums up.

During the afternoon, the Judiciary Police confirmed the change of identity. Teresa Marques’ funeral will take place this Wednesday at 10.30 am.
