The Maus Hábitos bar, in Porto, admits that “the situation with a clear homophobic profile” registered at dawn on Saturday was not managed in the best way by its employees and promises that it will do everything to ensure that this does not happen again. The reaction comes after two boyfriends and friends were attacked and the target of homophobic insults inside the bar and on the street.
“After investigating the situation with a clear homophobic profile that occurred, we found that, despite the experience of our employees, the situation was not handled in the best way, not properly protecting the victims. Something that is intolerable”, reads a statement published this afternoon Monday on the bar’s Facebook page.
It is recalled that, in the early hours of Saturday, two young lovers and their friends were the target of homophobic attacks and insults at the Maus Hábitos bar, in the center of Porto. The group complains that, instead of protecting them, the security guards threw them out of the bar. Worse: a few moments later, they let the aggressors out, making possible the occurrence of new aggressions.
“We are taking exemplary measures in relation to those involved and strengthening the management protocols for this type of situation. We will do everything to ensure that similar situations do not happen again and that Maus Hábitos continues to be what it has always been: a safe space, conviviality and the most diverse pleasures… FOR ALL!”, promises the bar.
