The President of Austria assured that his country will not be unprincipled in helping Ukrainians
In the conditions of Russian aggression against Ukraine Austria will remain a neutral country only in the field of armaments, but will help Ukrainians by non-military methods.
This was stated by the Federal President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, during a press conference following negotiations with his Swiss counterpart, reports Ukrinform.
He stated that Austria and Switzerland will not be unprincipled in helping Ukrainians.
“This excellent neighborly cooperation demonstrates reliability even in times of crisis, for example, now – in view of Russia’s bloody war of aggression against Ukraine. As you know, Switzerland and Austria are neutral countries. But this does not mean that we will be unprincipled in this situation. We help where we can in the field of humanitarian activities in Ukraine. We are neutral from a military point of view, and nothing more,” said Van der Bellen.
The Austrian president added that his country has taken in about 85,000 Ukrainians who were forced to leave Ukraine due to Russian aggression.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of Austria announced that that are preparing for a possible blackout due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In addition, we previously informed that the Austrian Parliament recognized the Holodomor as “a terrible crime of the Soviet authorities”.
