Attack against director of women’s prison in Ecuador leaves two dead

(CNN) — The National Comprehensive Care Service for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders of Ecuador reported this Tuesday through a statement that there was an attack against the director of the women’s prison in Esmeraldas, capital of the province of Esmeraldas.

The attack injured both the director of the penitentiary and an official of the establishment. Two relatives of the director were killed in the incident.

The Commander of the National Police, General Fausto Salinas, announced that after the attack against the director, specialized units were activated to find those responsible for the attack.

Both the SNAI and the Ecuadorian Police did not specify where the attack against the official took place.
