(CNN Spanish) — The former president of Peru, Alejandro Toledo, suffered a hypertensive crisis while fulfilling a scheduled medical appointment at a public hospital in Lima, the Peruvian Social Security Institute reported.
“Toledo was discharged after receiving emergency care at Hospital II de Vitarte,” pointed out the institute through its Twitter account.
Currently, the ex-president is serving preventive detention in the Barbadillo prison, after being extradited from the United States.
Toledo is accused of money laundering and collusion in the framework of the Odebrecht case, accusations that he has repeatedly denied.
